Volunteers are essential to helping WindReach thrive. There are a wide variety of ways volunteers make a difference: by helping us care for the horses and petting zoo animals, garden maintenance and of course, working with our diverse support needs participants. Our dedicated volunteers are instrumental in allowing WindReach achieve our mission and therapeutic goals.

WE NEED YOU TOO!
We are always looking for volunteers, to fill many different roles. Did you know that it can take up to three volunteers for one participant to ride in a therapeutic riding lesson? With as many as 240 lessons a month, that’s a lot of volunteers!

WHICH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY AWAITS YOU?
Animal Zone:
Do you love animals as much as we do? If so come lend a hand with feeding and caring for the animals in the animal zone. Eeyore (our donkey) is the most famous, but we are positive you will enjoy meeting the sheep, rabbits and goats.
Volunteers help us with feeding shifts, interaction, training and chores. We also have groups of children visiting the animal zone for tours. Help us by volunteering to be a trained tour guide and share the animals with others.

Therapeutic Riding:
Whether you have a few show ribbons under your belt, or you have no prior knowledge of riding, there is a space for you to volunteer in the programme. Those without horse experience can help as side walkers while those who have experience can assist with general care, grooming, and be leaders in the lesson.

The Gardens:
If you have a green thumb, this is right up your alley! WindReach’s horticultural therapy offers positive experiences to many participants of all ages and abilities. But sometimes we just can’t keep up. If you are able to help with watering or weeding, we would be grateful for the help.

Other Volunteer Opportunities:
There is always something to do at WindReach. Assisting with the Adult Day Programme, special event planning, database entry, maintenance, painting or carpentry work; the list is vast. Let us know what interests you and how you would like to volunteer.
